10 Years: Marking a DADA2 Foundation Milestone

September - 10 Years Marking a DADA2 Foundation Milestone

Marking a Milestone: 10 Years

Chip Chambers

I watched something this week that has stirred two things: hope and a healthy drive to fight a little harder for every DADA2 patient. It’s fitting as we mark 10 years of the Foundation

It’s a documentary that tells the story of how patient families rallied around Cystic Fibrosis and other foundations to raise funds over the last 40 years that supported the discovery of treatments for the various types of CF. Full of twists and turns, and even still without all the answers, the journey has saved hundreds of thousands of lives.

Here’s what’s encouraging to me: in some ways, we are further down the road than those who were pursuing a cure for cystic fibrosis. We have a possible treatment in hand. All we need now is to close a deal with a pharma partner, which we are pursuing, and raise the support needed to sustain the work to determine if it’s a good treatment.

I can think of no better time to pursue this critical possibility than our 10th Anniversary – which we kick off today for the rest of the year! We have talked about it, but it’s time to mark this milestone in the ways we know are important – promoting awareness, pursuing science, and yes, fundraising to support our work and more work around the world. Take a look at all the options below for getting involved this month! If you can donate, every amount matters: www.dada2.org/donate

With much gratitude,

Pitching What’s Possible
DADA2 Foundation Presents at Global Genes

Global Genes Dada2

The DADA2 Foundation presented our case at the Global Genes Rare Drug Development Symposium on September 11, 2026, in Boston, Mass., USA. Presenting to a room full of rare disease advocates as well as a panel of seasoned biotech and venture capital experts, our Chief Scientific Office Lex Cowsert, Ph.D., shared the incredible impact that developing PEG-ADA2 into a treatment could have on patients. DADA2 Foundation Executive Director Mary Makley also attended to share more about the Foundation with those in attendance. Finally, we were thrilled to reconnect with several of our colleagues from our Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Rare as One Cohort. We are always hopeful and intentional about making connections that can lead to new opportunities for discovery, and are confident we made several of those while at the conference. If you know of a connection we should make, email us at info@dada2.org. A recording of the presentation will soon be available on our social media.

Pursuing What’s Possible

This month, we mark our 10th Anniversary and we are asking this community to help raise awareness for DADA2. One of our talented community members, Mieke Smit, kicked off our efforts by designing this new 10th anniversary logo! Thank you, Mieke!

Now it’s our turn. Beginning October 1 and throughout the month, we are sharing 10 Things We Want People to Know About DADA2. Chronicling the moments of hope and the moments of hard, this “10” list will be released every few days on social media in an effort to share what we, as a community, want people to know. It is curated by a group of dedicated patients and family members and compliments our DADA2Too! videos that continue to come in. We hope you will take this idea and your own thoughts and share them in any of the ways below!

We invite you to raise awareness about DADA2 this Fall
